La Vila Vella
A place that you cannot miss visiting, if you are a lover of medieval and ancient history, is Vila Vella, a national historical-artistic monument surrounded by walls, and a unique example of a fortified medieval town that still exists on the Catalan coast. . Its construction dates from the beginning of the 13th century.
The walls consist of four towers and three cylindrical towers surmounted by machicolations. The most famous of these towers are the Torre d'en Jonás, which dominates the bay; the Torre de las Heures, located near the entrance to the parade ground, which owes its name to the fact that it was the only place where there was a public clock; and the Torre d'es Codolar, or Homage Tower, which dominates the Codolar beach.
